LONDON - Skype has awarded its $80m global ad account to an Omnicom trio of agencies, expanding the brief to include Rapp for CRM activity.
Skype: expands brief to include CRM
TBWA London and Wolff Olins will perform the account's advertising and branding duties respectively.
The appointments end a three-month pitch process handled by agency intermediary AAR, which was contested by other agencies including Euro RSCG, DraftFCB and Interbrand.
Neil Stevens, VP-general manager of Skype's consumer business, told one US trade magazine that the voice-over-internet service was so impressed with Rapp that it expanded its initial brief to include the agency.
"Rapp did a great job of positioning themselves on eCRM, so we added them into the brief to expand our CRM capabilities," he said.
Skype will continue to work with incumbent, London-based integrated agency Albion until the end of the year.
